Duties: Protects life and property at Morgan State University; enforces all rules and regulations set forth by the Morgan State University Board of Regents and the State of Maryland in accordance with the Maryland Annotated Code of Laws; patrols designated areas to identify and report safety hazards, detect violations of laws and ordinances; identify wanted vehicles, persons, and unusual conditions; respond to calls for assistance and emergency service; take action as directed and assist in preliminary and follow-up investigations by interviewing and obtaining statements; assist in collecting and preserving evidence; assist in surveillance and in serving warrants and summons; assists in the apprehension, detention, and processing of violators; performs searches, detains vehicles and persons, and makes arrests when institutional is present; interacts with campus community and establishes rapport with public; operates a variety of communication equipment to obtain, report, and verify information; prepares and completes a variety of detailed reports and forms to support investigations; assists in the preparation of cases; appears and testifies in court; directs traffic; operates and utilizes a variety of law enforcement equipment, e.g., self-defense tools and criminal detection devices; performs other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; Possession of a valid Maryland Class C or equivalent driver’s license; satisfactory completion of a Maryland Police Academy program and successful completion of a Police Field Training program; certification as a sworn Police Officer recognized by the Maryland Police Training Commission.
